World Vision Advocacy Forum (WVAF) successfully held its Executive Committee meeting chaired by Senior Advocate Dinesh Tripathi on May 01, 2024, at the WVAF Office in Raniban, Kathmandu. Following the meeting, Mr. Mahendra Bikram Shah, a member of the WVAF Executive Committee, delivered a presentation on Disability Rights, Disability Inclusion, and Accessibility.
During the presentation, it was highlighted that the Government of Nepal has identified 10 categories of disabilities, which include: (1) Physical Disability; (2) Vision-related Disability – encompassing blindness, low vision, and total absence of sight; (3) Hearing-related Disability – covering deafness and hard of hearing conditions; (4) Deaf-Blind Disability; (5) Disability related to Voice and Speech; (6) Mental or Psychosocial Disability; (7) Intellectual Disability; (8) Hemophilia; (9) Autism; and (10) Multiple Disabilities.
The meeting fostered an interactive environment, facilitating a series of discussions on WVAF's organizational development. WVAF Executive Committee members and staff engaged in fruitful dialogues regarding various facets of supporting individuals living with disabilities.
