Previous Projects

The Partnership for Combating Local level Corruption project was one year project implemented since December 1, 2007 to December 30, 2008 in 5 districts namely Jumla, Kalikot, Dailekh, Jajarkot of Mid -Western and Achham of Far-Western Regions of Nepal. The project was funded by DanidaHUGOU and implemented by WVAF as the lead in consortium with five local partner CSOs from Jumla, Kalikot, Dailakh, Jajarkot and Achham of Mid - and Far - Western Regions of Nepal. The target groups of the project included local communities from the five districts. Approximately 786,000 people from 144,000 households mostly poor and marginalized people benefited from the project activities in the form of increased access to efficient public services.

Development objective/Goal of the project:

To establish accountable and transparent local governance systems by strengthening civil society organisations dedicated to fight corruption.

Immediate objectives of the project:

  1. To increase public awareness against the vices of corruption,
  2. To strengthen accountability and transparency of local governance institutions
  3. To enhance Local Knowledge on post-conflict corruption
  4. To engage civil society in the monitoring of corruption cases, including post-conflict corruption cases.

Project Results:

  1. Capacity of anti-corruption CSOs enhanced
  2. Public awareness against corruption increased
  3. Local knowledge on post-conflict corruption enhanced 
  4. Anti-corruption monitoring mechanism such as District Anti-corruption Networks (DANs) comprising of local government authorities, line agencies and civil society established and functional 
  5. Published and distributed quarterly magazines titled Integrity Campaign (See- Link) 
  6. Published and distributed Book on Corruption in Remote Districts (See- Link)

Major Activities of Project Includes;

  1.  Increasing public awareness against the vices of corruption through trainings, Publication and distribution quarterly bulletins, ToT on and 15 staging of street dramas
  2. Strengthening accountability and transparency of local governance institutions through conducting ToT on street drama and  staging of 15 street dramas and Broadcasting of Good Governance Radio Programme
  3. Enhancing local knowledge on post-conflict corruption enhanced through Profiling district-level conflict and post-conflict corruption problems and Organizing district and regional -level workshops on conflict and post-conflict corruption issues. And  
  4. Establishing  Anti-corruption monitoring mechanism by Formation and strengthening of District Anti-Corruption Networks (DANs)
